Forapolis Portal Platform

ETSI Forapolis has developed the Forapolis Portal Platform (FPP), a powerful yet easy to use tool which enables our partners to manage their websites and related applications through a simple web interface. It has been designed to provide a high degree of flexibility and customization to guarantee that each partner has an individual site able to satisfy their requirements.

The FPP is continuously being enhanced with new or improved features. The planned development is available on the FPP Roadmap (PDF, 53 KB).

In addition, as the architecture of the FPP is multi-tier it ensures ease of development and maintenance, and allows rapid integration of updates and enhancements. It also benefits from the latest web technology.

Using the FPP, Forapolis can provide and host both public and member-only sites. As the sites remain on a Forapolis server, we can guarantee availability of the site, take regular back ups and provide helpdesk support. The FPP consists of a Framework and a series of individual applications integrated into the Framework.

You may discover the public website part of our ETSI FPP via our website at http://www.forapolis.com/. There is also a 'private' member area with applications, which as indicated is closed, but which we can demonstrate.

FPP Base Module included (Applications)

Framework: This is the core of the FPP which acts as a shell for all other applications. It controls the architecture of the FPP (the design, graphical elements etc.) and coordinates the various applications including:

  • Membership Management System (MMS): This allows the management of the user community. This includes companies, individuals and the organization structure of the partner (e.g. Board, working groups etc.).

  • Content Management System (CMS): This is a tool for managing and updating the content of static HTML pages on a website. These are pages with relatively static content that is created and updated manually, as opposed to dynamic pages which are automatically updated by a web application, based on any changes made in an underlying database. The CMS comprises a management tool to handle page creation, publication etc. and an editor to create page content.

  • Rights and permissions: This module is closely tied to Membership and allows the management of all access rights and permissions within the FPP (i.e. single sign-on for all applications). Access rights are based on a combination of organizational roles and user roles for maximum flexibility and are stored in database (and therefore do not rely on the operating system).  Passwords are encrypted. Automatic validation of new requests is possible using domain names and email addresses.

  • News/FAQ/Links: A single management interface is provided to organize News, FAQs and Useful Links. This module is delivered in the base package but can be disabled and replaced by static pages if required.

FPP Add-on Modules available (Applications)

ETSI Forapolis can provide the following supplementary applications:

  • Meetings and events Applications: This allows the management of meetings: creation (date, times, locations), listing (past and future), registration, participants' list, documents, download meetings' information etc.

  • Document Management System (DMS): This allows the management of documents: creation/revision/download of documents, automatic numbering, change documents' status, documents' withdrawal,  etc.

  • Mailing list: This is linked to and delivered with Listserv™ and provides access to a community's mailing lists with different functions for the mailing lists.

FPP Customized Modules (Applications)

ETSI Forapolis can develop on demand, customized applications to suit partner-specific processes, subject to agreement on the specification and pricing. Currently we have developed the following applications for our existing partners:

  • Online Certification (for the declaration of certain devices against a certification regime)
  • Field Trial Qualification (for submitting details of field trial networks)
  • 10 Day rules (for the approval of change request documents over a 10 day period)
  • Work Programme (for the recording and monitoring of a set of deliverables in a work programme)
